V1.1 is Launched!
Don't Go Alone has officially launched! This project was made as part of my Ph.D., which is a methodology advocacy for Creative Exegesis research. I know that's a super mouthful, but what it simply means is that I research as I create, reflect, then create while I research.
The main theme of the research is comic studies, which uses three small case studies to demonstrate various ways of using the exegetical model in creative practice. I'm a lecturer and animator by profession, so I wanted to use the techniques that I teach in various ways. This interactive comic focuses around how we can use game design tools and tecniques to move comics over into a better space. I've previously found that motion comics are too controlled and linear, while traditional interactive comics are wildly difficult to produce, because you have to decided whether it's going to be a full game, a visual novel, hyperlinked or simply clickable.
I intentionally went simple here because of scope and time, but I can easily offer branching choice mechanics and other techniques as well. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the work and please feel free to leave comments!
I'll be updating it again in a little while - I'm tightening up the audio, but for now, I'm happy with the state the comic is in!
